The msg2ai Toolkit: Set Up a Hotel Concierge by Asking
Setting up a hotel concierge has always meant working through screens — property details, knowledge base, phone number, guest list, one property at a time. The msg2ai Toolkit changes where that work happens: an AI assistant such as Claude can now do the setup with you, in conversation, using your own msg2ai account.
Why Concierge Setup Has Always Been the Slow Part
Standing up a concierge assistant works the same way it always has: log in, click through settings, fill in the property details, write the FAQ, upload it, attach a number, seed a guest list. None of it is hard on its own. It just has to be repeated, property by property.
- It repeats per property— a management company with ten hotels does the same setup conversation ten separate times, through ten separate screens
- Knowledge starts from a blank page— someone has to write the FAQ from scratch, even though most of it already exists on the hotel's own website
- Staff knowledge stays in people's heads — house rules and seasonal notes rarely make it into a knowledge base unless someone deliberately sits down to type them out
The msg2ai Toolkit moves that work into a conversation, so describing the property is the setup.
What the msg2ai Toolkit Actually Is
The Toolkit is a small connector you install once. It gives an AI assistant a safe, limited door into your msg2ai account.
It comes in two forms, and most hotels only need the first:
- A connector for AI tools such as Claude, so you can simply describe what you want
- A command line version, for teams who prefer to script repeatable setups across a portfolio
There are four versions, one for each kind of business: hotels, events, trips, and vacation rentals. Each one speaks the language of that business. Behind all of them sits the same set of seventy capabilities, covering assistants, knowledge, contacts, campaigns, surveys, meetings, check-in, and reminders — for a hotel, that means concierge setup, guest lists, and pre-arrival reminders in particular.
Not a Generic Chatbot Builder
The assistant isn't guessing or writing filler copy into a void. It works with the real records already in your account. That means it can:
- Read your existing assistants and guest lists
- Pull knowledge from your own hotel website
- Create and update real records you can see in the msg2ai app
- Report back exactly what it did
Everything it creates appears in msg2ai exactly as if a person had entered it. You can review, edit, or undo any of it.
Example: Opening a Concierge for a Boutique Hotel
A boutique hotel wants guests to be able to ask questions over WhatsApp instead of calling the front desk.
Describe the Property
You tell the assistant what the property is and where it is. It creates the concierge assistant with the property details, location, and key contacts already filled in.
Point It at Your Website
Rather than writing an FAQ from scratch, you give it your hotel website. It reads the pages and turns them into the knowledge the concierge answers from — usually the questions guests ask most: Wi-Fi and parking, check-in and check-out times, pool and gym hours, dining and room service, and property policies.
Add What Isn't on the Website
House rules, seasonal notes, and the things staff know but never wrote down can be added as their own knowledge notes.
Connect a Number and a Guest List
You attach a messaging number your property already has, then seed the in-house guest list and set up a pre-arrival message.
The result is a working WhatsApp concierge for hotels. The part that matters is what happens next: the same conversation can be repeated for the second property, and the fiftieth. For a management company, that's the real saving.
A Second Example: Segmenting a Revenue Campaign
This is the simplest example, and often the one properties reach for first once the concierge is live. You can ask the assistant to show who's in your audience today, build a segment — past guests in one city, or upcoming arrivals this weekend — write the message, assemble the campaign, and show it to you before anything is sent.
Only then does sending happen, and only if you ask for it. Campaigns can also be paused or cancelled after they start. It's the same conversational setup behind our guide to hotel upselling with AI, just assembled by asking instead of clicking through a campaign builder.
You Decide What It's Allowed to Touch
This is the part worth reading twice, because it's what makes the rest comfortable. Access is granted through a key that an administrator creates in Settings. When you create it, you choose exactly what it can do.
- Keys are read-only by default
- Writing, sending, and exporting are each granted separately
- Keys expire, and can be revoked at any time
- Every key has a daily limit on how many guests it can message
- Phone numbers in contact and conversation records are shown only as the last four digits
In practice this means you can give a drafting assistant a key that can prepare an entire campaign and is physically unable to send it. Sending stays with a person, or with a key you deliberately trusted. Because sending costs money, it's treated carefully: recipients are counted against the key's daily allowance before anything is queued, and a send that goes over the limit is refused rather than partly delivered.
What Still Needs a Person
A few things are deliberately left out, and it's fair to say so plainly.
- Getting a brand new phone number is still handled by our team. The Toolkit can move a number you already have between your own assistants, but it can't claim a new one
- Submitting message templates for WhatsApp approval still follows the normal process
- Changing an assistant's core instructions requires a key an administrator has specifically allowed to do that
These aren't gaps waiting to be filled quietly. They're the decisions we think should stay with a named person.
Getting Started
If you already use msg2ai, you can try this today.
Create a key
Ask an administrator to create a key in Settings, under Agent Keys.
Copy it once
Copy the key when it is shown, as it is only displayed once.
Connect your assistant
Add the connector to your AI tool, or install the command line version.
Start read-only
Start with a read-only key and ask it to describe your property back to you.
That last step is the honest way to begin. Before letting anything create or send, ask it what it can see. It's the fastest way to build trust in what you've just connected.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the msg2ai Toolkit?
A connector that lets an AI assistant, or a command line, set up and manage your msg2ai hotel concierge directly — assistants, knowledge, guest lists, campaigns, and check-in — instead of you clicking through the dashboard yourself.
Do I need to be technical to set up a concierge this way?
No. Connect it to an AI assistant such as Claude and describe the property in plain language. A command-line version also exists for teams who'd rather script a repeatable setup.
Is it safe to let an AI assistant touch my hotel's account?
Access runs through a key you create yourself, and keys default to read-only. You decide what each key can do, keys expire, you can revoke one at any time, and every key has a daily cap on how many guests it can message.
Can it message my guests without me approving it first?
Only if you hand it a key with sending permission. Without that, it can prepare a campaign end to end but is physically unable to deliver it.
Does the same Toolkit work for vacation rentals and events, not just hotels?
Yes — there's a version for hotels, events, trips, and vacation rentals, and all four work against the same kind of msg2ai account.
What happens to the assistants and knowledge it creates?
They land in msg2ai as ordinary records. You can review, edit, or delete anything it made, the same as if your team had entered it by hand.
